The three platforms don't just differ in price — they differ in what they charge for. n8n Cloud charges by execution count (no workflow-count limit). Zapier charges by completed "tasks" per month, capped hard on the free tier. Make charges by "operations" — and a single logical workflow step can consume several operations at once, which is easy to underestimate from the pricing page alone.
The fix:
don't compare these platforms by sticker price — map your actual expected volume (executions, tasks, or operations, whichever the platform uses) against each platform's real unit definition before committing.
